Tomorrow will always be older than I

A particular grace arrived with 46.

It wasn't the kind that came from effort, but from understanding what truly matters.

Less matters more than it did before.

If I wouldn’t pack it for a trip, it’s been discarded... and that includes people, places, and mindsets, too.

This year I realized ambition evolves.

Mount Everest changes.

46 was no longer about climbing higher but about settling deeper into what life has offered.

Being thankful for the wisdom I've earned through decades of been-there-done-that moments.

Sending gratitude to those still around each day.

Decisions are easier, born from sagacity that can't be faked.

Forty-six was choosing home over going out and discarding the guilt for missing an event.

Trading out mindless conversations and seeking out well-traveled talk.

Swapping club nights for 2 Panadol Night, exchanging drink deals for massage vouchers, and discovering that a rainshower head is better than a glass of wine after a long day.

Cocktail dresses and spiky heels also donated. My legs display bruised and veined out badges of honor from a life of adventure.

New silvery strands of hair perfectly complement my favorite business class sweatpants.

This is the age whispering a beautiful truth: less is more.

And the most liberating understanding?

Having nothing left to prove to myself or anyone else and few people are really interested, anyway.

As I step into 47, I carry forward bravery and confidence in this adventure.

I hope for bravery in further changes and wish for continued confidence for the wisdom to open every window ahead. This birthday isn't about growing older; it's about growing freer.

47 is a “safe prime”, meaning, subtracting the thing not meant for me [47-1] and dividing thoughts into tolerable and dismissed [2], it will be ok because that answer is also prime [23].

Prime time for prime times.

Grab a cupcake and a sunset and help me welcome what will be 47.

The Atomic number of silver.

The sum of squares 4+5.

The 47 Ronin [Samuri] of the Japanese culture who went from outcasts to legendary warriors in a story of loyalty, sacrifice, persistence, and honor.

To the stories for 46, thank you.

To the stories of 47, I'm excited to meet you.
